6:32 – CHECKERED FLAG for Josef Newgarden, his third career Verizon IndyCar Series victory and first on an oval. He led 282 laps which is a new Verizon IndyCar Series record for most laps led in a single race

6:30 – With 6 laps to go, Will Power passes Simon Pagenaud for P3 then passes Scott Dixon for P2

6:28 – 10 laps left, Josef Newgarden is on rails and leads by 4.2 seconds

6:24 – With 25 laps to go, Josef Newgarden leads by 2.8 seconds over Scott Dixon

6:21 – Josef Newgarden sets the fastest lap of the race (179.481mph)

6:20 – Max Chilton’s crew makes repairs and gets Chilton back in the race

6:19 – GREEN FLAG at Lap 260

6:15 – Final round of pit stops for the leaders are complete

6:09 – Max Chilton spins on the exit of Turn 2 bringing out the 3rd caution

6:04 – Scott Dixon gets around Simon Pagenaud for P2

6:03 – Keep an eye out for Scott Dixon, he jut passed Will Power for P3

6:00 – Scott Dixon sneaks by Tony Kanaan for P4

5:54 – Just completed Lap 200 of 300, Josef Newgarden out in front by over 2 seconds, top running Honda is still Mikhail Aleshin in P6, biggest mover so far is James Hinchcliffe (+14 from P22 to P8)

5:52 – Tony Kanaan’s car takes a bizzare turn where it seemed to jump out of gear after a bump on track

5:51 – GREEN FLAG at Lap 188, Simon Pagenaud tries to get around Josef Newgarden but can’t make the pass

5:46 – The leaders hit pit lane, Scott Dixon has a bad stop and loses three positions

5:44 – Juan Pablo Montoya appears to blow an engine, brings out the 2nd caution. Montoya has never finished a race at Iowa, this was his 3rd attempt

5:43 – Juan Pablo Montoya gets around Helio Castroneves for P3, Castroneves ducks down onto pit lane

5:41 – Graham Rahal reporting a bad vibration, says he can’t see anything the car is shaking so bad

5:38 – Conor Daly has retired from the race due to handling on Lap 141

5:35 – Ed Carpenter’s team was able to replace the entire gearbox assembly and get his car back out on track, 17 laps down

5:33 – The battle between Helio Castroneves & Simon Pagenaud is working to Josef Newgarden’s advantage as Pagenaud now leads by about 2.6 seconds

5:32 – Helio Castroneves is working Simon Pagenaud for P2, but backs off

5:31 – Tony Kanaan struggling to get around Alexander Rossi who is a lap down

5:30 – Didn’t take long for Josef Newgarden to start pulling away from the field, Newgarden leads by nearly 1 second

5:28 – GREEN FLAG at Lap 128

5:26 – Getting ready to go back green, caution period has already lasted 18 laps

5:23 – There are now eleven cars on the lead lap. Ed Carpenter is suffering from gearbox issues and cannot shift out of neutral, could be the end of the day for the #20

5:17 – The only two cars on the lead lap, Josef Newgarden & Simon Pagenaud, stop for service. All other cars stayed out and will get a wave around

5:16 – Pits are open on Lap 113, expect most cars to stop

5:14 – Lap 109 first caution for Ryan Hunter-Reay blowing an engine, lots of smoke and flames with a loud explosion

5:13 – Josef Newgarden’s team is telling him to stay out as long as possible before pitting

5:11 – Just passed 50 laps since the last time Josef Newgarden pitted and his speed is falling

5:09 – After 94 laps, Josef Newgarden leads Simon Pagenaud by over 15 seconds and is on pace to lap the entire field

5:06 – Josef Newgarden gets around Helio Castroneves, there are now two cars on the lead lap

5:05 – Helio Castroneves is making it hard for Josef Newgarden to put him a lap down, Castroneves is in P3

5:04 – After 77 laps, Josef Newgarden leads Simon Pagenaud by over 12 seconds which is 2/3 of a lap

5:01 – Josef Newgarden reclaims the lead on Lap 65

5:00 – Alexander Rossi briefly takes the lead being the last car to pit

4:58 – Max Chilton inherits the lead on pit cycling, this is the first laps Chilton has led in the Verizon IndyCar Series

4:57 – More cars are coming in for new tires and fuel, Simon Pagenaud tries to duck down but Tony Kanaan coming up forced Pagenaud to miss pit entrance. Most likely will cost him a good amount of time

4:55 – The leader is into pit lane, it’s a good stop for the #21 – 7.9sec

4:54 – Helio Castroneves is the 2nd car to duck down to pit lane

4:53 – Good battle going on between Will Power and Tony Kanaan

4:51 – After 40 laps the top running Honda is Mikhail Aleshin in P7

4:50 – NBCSN just showed a replay of Josef Newgarden’s crash at Texas, still makes me shutter to watch it

4:46 – Gabby Chaves in P22 is the first one to pit on Lap 23

4:43 – Only took 14 laps for Josef Newgarden to catch the back of the field

4:40 – GREEN FLAG! Josef Newgarden passes Simon Pagenaud to lead the first lap

3:25 – Press conference has concluded, a little over an hour until the Verizon IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300

3:24 – Zach Veach is talking about his spotter and the differences from his time at Andretti to now

3:22 – Drivers are talking about their struggles passing Dean Stoneman

3:19 – Felix Seralles is happy to have won again this season, seems to think that some drivers out there don’t care about blue flags and it’s not good

3:17 – Zach Veach is talking about how he too maxed out his tools after only 10 laps, but his car continued to get better on throughout the race. Zach is also upset about getting blocked by Neil Alberico

3:15 – Ed Jones described how his car was suffering from major oversteer, was maxed out on his anti-roll bars early on in the race and couldn’t pass lap trafffic

3:13 – Post-race press conference is just beginning, Ed Jones is talking about the start of the race and how the track was pretty dusty

2:54 – Race Control is reviewing the race winning pass for a possible block by Neil Alberico

2:52 – Felix Seralles takes the lead back from Zach Veach with 2 laps remaining to win at Iowa

2:47 – Zach Veach appears to be on cruise control and looks like he’ll win at Iowa

2:45 – Zach Veach used lap traffic to overtake Felix Seralles on Lap 79

2:44 – Andre Negrao needed to pit due to a right front tire coming apart in Turn 2

2:41 – Veach clears Jones to take P2 on Lap 67

2:39 – Zach Veach is working hard on Ed Jones for P2

2:37 – Felix Seralles becomes the new race leader on Lap 57

2:34 – Zach Veach finally managed to pass Dean Stoneman to take P3

2:30 – Indy Lights Race is closing in on halfway, Ed Jones has led almost the entire race but the real battle is back in P3-P5
