Only red flag of the session was for reigning Indy 500 Champion Simon Pagenaud who made contact with the wall in Turn 12 and broke a tow-link. Pagenaud would manage to save the car from other walls, but stalled the engine and needed a restart. This would happen with only about three minutes left, bringing an end to the session.
Only a 30 minute pit stop practice / warm-up session is left before qualifying each of the next two days before their doubleheader races.
